Cyma curves and serpentine sofas 〰
So is a classical guitar shaped the way it is for visual appeal or for sound? I suspect both.
Hmm good question - I know the f-holes in the front of some string instruments get their shape from the physics of sound transmission - wrote about it a while back here: https://designlobster.substack.com/p/20-fractals-f-holes-and-design-morality
Reminds me of being a kid, with my transistor radio in the back of a slightly open draw on my wooden study desk at home.
I learned a lot and those curves really made me want to get my pen and sketchpad. Thanks!
That's great to hear, hope you can get sketching!
A clever title for this piece. Totally hooked me - and great content. Every day a school day!
